Um, things?

Wait a moment? Weren't we just in September? Um ... why are we now half-way through October? How is my baby sister suddenly six years old? (Honest question, because this week is her birthday.)

What happened to this little thing????????

TIME FOR AN UPDATE!

First of all: As all of you know, I was working on school and I was doing really well ... but looking at my writing schedule earlier this month, I realized that, if I'm going to succeed in entering the 5 Magic Spindles contest, I need to have the story written by the end of October at the latest, and if I'm going to have Lady Dragon, Tela Du out by this time next year (I'm looking at maybe September 15th as a release date. Maybe.), I need to have it written by Christmas. And in order to do that, I need to have at least part 1 finished by the start of NaNo.

For both of those goals, I need to write about 6,000 words on Poison Kiss, and maybe a bit more than that for Lady Dragon, Tela Du. By the end of October.

So. I'm pushing School back to the back burner, and will instead be sacrificing January and February to its cause. This is the time I spent on Kingdom's release this year, and it was the time I was considering giving to the collection ... but I'm afraid that that will have to go on hold as well. I'm not sure when that will come off of hold.

I will continue working on school this month, I need to take notes for the research paper while I still have the books out of the library, and I want to have my Chemistry book finished by the end of December. Not sure what I'm going to do with math, The graphs and I aren't talking right now, and I'm not budging until they agree to be nice to me.

I am planning a Rizkaland themed party during the week between Christmas and New Year's, celebrating ten years working on this series. Not sure what all I'm going to do with it, but I do know I'll have character Q&A's and a fanart contest. Feel free to suggest ideas. What would you like to do for the party?

But, yeah, the current word count for Poison Kiss is 6,850, though I'm currently stuck on a scene involving some backstory. Word count for LDTD is 14,005, and Amber is about to give a speech. Also, have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying writing a younger Ritis? In all the previous drafts, I only got to write him after he was old and beaten. I just wrote a scene between him and Amber, and he's such a wise, brave soul.

So that's what I've been doing, and what I will do.  Once more, what would you guys like to do for the party?

  1. Character Q&As, YES.
Also, off-blog thing, but . . . that thing I mentioned on Goodreads? Might make a fun addition to the birthday celebrations . . . I don' t know.
Sorry graphs are going rough for you. They're definitely not my favorite thing either . . .

    1. That would be a fun addition. I'll probably use it.

I don't mind graphs. I don't mind algebra, but mixing the two just annoys me.

  2. "The graphs and I aren't talking right now, and I'm not budging until they agree to be nice to me." -- YES. YES. THAT IS ME EXACTLY.

*cough* I mean, uh, yeah. I understand. Sadly.

*grabs pom poms* You can do it! I'm fresh out of genius ideas for the party, sadly...

    1. I feel like I'm betraying my mathematical heritage to admit that a portion of math is driving me nuts ... but those graphs are really giving me fits. If the information is already on the graph, and I don't have to take it off, I'm good, it's the transfer where I stall out.

I'll come up with some brilliant stuff, don't worry.

  3. I'm working on graphs in algebra too. Not cool. I understand somewhat how linear equations relate, but second-degree and conic sections? NOT COOL.

Party sounds like so much fun. OH YEAH I HAD A COOL DREAM LAST NIGHT. WPFP was a movie and it was on Netflix. And it made me really happy.

Anyway. Party. Fanart is wicked cool (except for the fact that I can't draw to save my life). Q&As are immensely fantastic. An announcement of the audiobook being started (which would be absolutely amazing) would make us fans extremely happy. Although you probably don't have time for that so it'd be a lie to say it was started.

Happy birthday Kendra's Baby Sister! (LaRue, is it?)

    1. I'd like to make such an announcement, but THE ANKULEN is on the top of thie list for an audiobook. I'd like to do them myself, but I'm a bit intemidated by WPFP's length.

    2. Perhaps, *clears throat very loudly* WPFP would be more manageable if you had a narrator plus some actors to read character lines. Consider, for instance, the possibility of flying up to Massachusetts to a certain person's house and recording studio along with some other promising cast members. *crosses arms in confidence*
Okay. As much as I'd love that to happen, I'm kidding, though that would be cool. And I'm not sure if ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange) accepts multiple narrators in one project, especially underage voice actors. Compensation would be complicated. (Therefore it may be a better idea to radio dramatize it and go indie.)
Go for the Ankulen. ;) That's manageable. Do you have a studio set up to record?

    3. I'm still working on a studio. My dad has a professional microphone that I can use when he's not at home, but I need to figure out how to hook it to my computer.

  4. Time flies, doesn't it? Happy Birthday to your baby sis!

Math is evil. Naughty graphs! Be nice to Kendra. *Waves quarterstaff threateningly*

*Cue Pixie dancing* Ooh! A party! :-D
I'm always happy to do Character Q&A, and I'd love to enter some fan-art (had an idea in mind already, actually...). Giveaways are always fun, too--perhaps some of your adoring fans who have Etsy stores or what-not would be willing to donate some door prizes...?

Best wishes with Poison Kiss and Lady Dragon, Tela Du, and with school and NaNo. *Pompoms* You can do it! RAWR!

    God bless,

    1. I've been shaking my own quarterstaff at it, but to no avail.

The Q&A's will be like the CE I posted during Kingdom's book release, but with the Rizkaland cast, and they are going to be fun. There will probably be a tag involve that you can do on your blog, though. I do know there will be giveaways involved. Etsy is an idea ... though, to be honest, I'm not sure which of my fans have etsies.

Oh, have you had a chance to actually read WPFP yet?

  5. Ah--I think I remember that one. That was fun (though hopefully more people will participate this time).

I mentioned Etsy because it seemed like a good way for those who sell there to get some publicity while they're supporting your work. :-)

Erm, no, I haven't read WPFP yet, for all my fangirling. :-P I really want to, though, so hopefully when (Lord willing) I get a regular income going, I can get my hands on a copy. :-D

    1. Well, seeing as how Rizkaland's fandom is already twice the size of Bookania's, and infinitely more active, there's a fair chance of that.

      I'll look into it.

  6. I'm still in awe of how you balance so many projects at once. XD My mind can't even handle writing one and editing another. IT JUST PACKS IN AND BURNS. It also does that when presented with maths. >_< I hope you survive those graphs and they decide to be nice to you!!

    1. I also read three books at a time so ... #talented

    2. I can't handle reading more than one book at once. I feel like too much of a traitor. Good for you, O Talented One.

  7. I think that there should be a giveaway of WPFP because there are some people who want an autographed paperback of the book *cough*

    1. My current plan is that, if I do the fanfiction contest, that will be the prize. However, looking at my finances, I know they're going to be a bit tight for December, so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do more than that.
