Rose and the Balloon Cover Reveal!

Hello! For the record, I am not dead, captured, or otherwise indisposed. Well, I have been indisposed with writing and editing and such, but I have not fallen off the face of the earth. And, somehow, I am going to be ready for the party that will start on Sunday. Either that or go crazy. One of the three.

Anyway, I popping up from the depths of obscurity and party organizing to show off a new cover for a friend's new book that will be releasing at the end of the month. I've already had a chance to read it. It's a delightful little story, supposedly a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but it resembles the Disney movie more than the actual fairy tale, so ... I can't entirely endorse it as a retelling. I did a guest post on the author's blog once, where my feelings on retelling Disney came up, so she had fair warning.

Still, it's a lovely story, and I do recommend it, and just look at this lovely cover:

Summary:
In a kingdom where fauna and flora are held in higher esteem than breakfast, Dmitri is a prince who yearns for change and plans it in a single daring act that will alter his life forever. However, when his demented mother accidentally causes the destruction of a prized garden of roses, Dmitri is horrified when she proposes his hand in marriage to make up for it. Not only will a wife hamper his glorious plans, he doesn't even want one.
Janelle has spent her whole life on her father's rose farm, tending the roses and staying simple. But she really yearns for something greater than the flower beds. But now there's a wrench thrown in the works – the crazy Queen Maeva wants her to marry the prince, and all for ruining her father's beloved roses.
This is Beauty and the Beast with a twist like you've never seen it before.

About the author:
Kirsten Fichter is a twenty-something Christian writer who is trying to find the balance between being one of six kids, a church pianist, a college student, a movie buff, a disaster in the kitchen, and a writing INFP. If you know what the secret is to balancing all of that, she’d be grateful to hear from you. Otherwise, don’t contact her unless you want to send her homemade gingerbread. Or a new piano book. Or an autographed Charles Dickens novel. In the meantime, she’ll be somewhere under a maple tree – trying very hard to finish the seventeen and half other stories she unwisely started all at once.

  1. Thanks, Kendra! :)

And I do recall that guest post. Quite enjoyed that one. And I will admit that was part of the reason why I chose to go with "A Beauty and the Beast Story" for the subtitle rather than "retelling." It was more of messed-up fairy tale than stick to the original fairy tale. :P At any rate, the big secret in the reveal delay was that I gave the text "retelling" to my friend, so when he did the cover, that's what it said. And I was so mortified I got it mixed up. I know it's a little thing, but I do feel like that makes a big difference. Well, it does to me, at least.

Looking forward to that party!! I'm hoping to have time apart from book stuffs to be around for that!! :D
