Nutcracker Advent Day 9

I have no idea where I got today's nutcracker (though I suspect either my Grammy or Gpa) indeed, for the longest time, I forgot he existed.

A few months ago, some family friends (Mrs S.D. from Take's acknowledgements and her kids) were over and we were going through so boxes for some odd reason. I forget what was in the boxes, but I pulled out this nutcracker and squealed quite loudly, earning an odd look from the oldest son. (Who is three years my junior, may I point out.) Of course, I'm used to odd looks.

While I'm not sure where or how I got him, I do know I've had him since before I was nine, since he's in my nine-year-old birthday picture. (My mom used to get professional pictures done of us at our birthdays, with various things that we love to show our personalities. I actually had one where I dressed up as Clara ... but I don't remember how old I was. The dress was too big for me though, so I ended up wearing it for many years after that.)

Oh, and we'd appreciate prayers for our family this week. For legal reasons, I can't give details, but there is a blog entry on the root cause about four years back. Basically, we'll be going through a lot of emotional stress.

But on a happier note, my dad just found my birth certificate, so I can finally go get official ID so that I can exist again ... and use my bank account and library card ... (And, TomWildRose, this means that I'll probably be making a big book order soon, and should be able to finally get your copy of The Ankulen to you!)

It was becoming terribly annoying, not existing ... I mean, yesterday, we went to the library and Mom wouldn't let me check out a single book! I have to content myself with the four hundred books that are on my new kindle. (Yes, NEW kindle. I've been saving up for some time to upgrade the second-hand one that I own, and on Thanksgiving, the huge DX version was on sale, so I convinced an Uncle who had Prime to help me get it. I still need to give him a bit more money, but since I have a job - and soon ID - and will be payed today, I should be able to get him the money next time I see him.)

  3. Today's nutcracker is quite the handsome fellow, wot? That snazzy costume, those big blue eyes--all very nicely painted--no wonder you squealed when you found him!

And hurrah! for being able to prove your existence. That would be scary, losing one's birth certificate....
Looking forward to reading The Ankulen!

You'll be in my prayers, girlie. Hopefully this situation will be resolved quickly and smoothly!
    God bless,

  4. Nutcrackers are such fun.

I will be praying for all of you!

And welcome back, to existing. Though, not existing could have led to some great spying opportunities.
